Villa des Indes
Welcome to Des Indes Villas – an exceptional pair of fully staffed luxury villas set within the ultra-exclusive gated Laksmana Villas in Seminyak’s most sought-after locale, moments from Petitenget Beach. Named after Holland’s legendary Hotel Des Indes from the Dutch East Indies era, each heritage-meets-contemporary-chic villa comprises a series of individual living and sleeping pavilions set in tropical gardens with swimming pools, balés, sun decks and koi ponds. At the heart of the four-bedroom Des Indes Villa I is a centuries-old teak joglo – once the residence of a Javanese aristocrat and reassembled in Bali. Today, with its elaborately sculpted pillars and intricately carved panels, this heritage building – believed to be the best preserved joglo on the island – commands centre-stage as an open-sided, open-plan living space circled by a 21-metre lagoon-style swimming pool and ornamental koi pond. The five-bedroom, two-pool Des Indes Villa II spotlights a more contemporary interpretation of the traditional joglo. Soaring columns support the vaulted roof in its large open-sided living pavilion edged by koi ponds facing a 16-metre pool. Another living area and two bedroom pavilions border a second 10-metre pool. In both villas, the bedroom suites are impeccably proportioned, with floors of polished teakwood and Palimanan stone under vaulted, teak ceilings. An eclectic collection of colonial-style furniture, prized antiques, precious Asian ceramics and artefacts, oriental rugs and art books adorn every room. Expect more contemporary luxuries too – top-range King Koil mattresses, crisp cotton bed linen, large TVs with satellite channels in every bedroom, and statement bathtubs in marble-lined bathrooms. Out of sight but always on hand are the villa butlers, ready to meet your every whim – whether an espresso served on your bedroom veranda, an ice-cold Bintang by the pool, silver service afternoon tea in the joglo or living pavilion. Each day is magical here. Start with an energy-boosting tropical breakfast then pick up one of the many books lying around, and retreat to an antique daybed or poolside balé. Take a siesta on a sun lounger then cool off in the pool. Stroll to Potato Head for sunset cocktails, then return home for a gourmet candle-lit dine created by your accomplished chef. Finally, retreat to the air-conditioned comfort of your spacious bedroom, sink into a petal-strewn bathtub and finally retire to your four-poster bed. Repeat the next day! With warm heartfelt service, wonderful surroundings, and a stellar beach-in-five Seminyak location, Des Indes Villas are perfect for five-star-seeking, fun-loving families and friends.

The only reason this review is a 3/5 and not a 5/5 is that the villa is close to a very loud nightclub/bar/restaurant which plays music STUPIDLY LOUD until about 1:00- 1:30am at night. This concern was mentioned immediately to me by the staff when I arrived and everyone was picking their room - but it's not mentioned in reviews or in any email correspondence or on the booking site. So it's obviously a known issue, but there's not much they can do about it without changing the design of the villas and adding in soundproofing. If you do not mind loud thumping music until almost midnight then this villa is truly amazing. However, if you are in one of the master bedrooms - good luck getting to sleep - the sound comes in through the thatched roof ceiling and is almost as loud as if you were in the club.Ignoring the noise issue though, the villa is amazing, as are the wonderful staff.Coffee delivered to you in the morning where ever you are - no issues. Delicious breakfast every morning - yep absolutely. Clean rooms - of course. Beautiful pool with great areas to relax - you know it! Stupidly large master bedroom suites - why not! Great location walking distance to the beach and tonnes of restaurants - yep!

It’s was a amazing estate . The place was full of beautiful antique furniture. You can tell a lot of thought was put into designing it . The staff were attentive taking care of our smallest needs . On the first day a friend had a medical issue the moment we arrived to the villa . The staff immediately got a doctor onsite for us in 20 mins or less . Cold towels .. everyday when we come back . It was truly a home away from home . We were well fed The chef made amazing breakfast and the bbq is a MUST ! It’s was my Bali heaven .

A first class experience for our stay in Bali. Impeccable service provided by the staff who are all super well trained. They catered to all our needs. The villa itself is conveniently located and yet we still felt really private.Well done. Definitely recommended!!

I love coming to Bali and I have been to Seminyak many times. But this is really this best place I have stayed in. We were worried that after the pandemic the place would be run down! No way! It was perfectly maintained. All the wonderful staff are long-timers with the Villa. They kept it in great condition. They were warm and amazing people! You would not regret visiting this little bit of heaven.

Best place to stay in Seminyak! We LOVED it. The house is built in old Indonesian style with the rooms built around a big common space. Perfect for several friends or a family, but even for a young couple like us that like chatting with everyone or stay in our room ;) there are few bedrooms (actually little apartments) all different. Is a very warm and calm place to stay, but the real jewel of this Villa is the staff and the facilities, they are simply the best we tried in Bali. Definitely advised.
Location
Des Indes Villas sits securely within the Laksmana Villas, an exclusive enclave right in the heart of Seminyak. The villas are not immediately next door to each other, but are just 300-metres apart and easily reached via the estates’ private road. Bali’s most stellar beach area, the wide expanse of Petitenget Beach, is a mere five-minute walk away. Many of the island’s most celebrated restaurants and bars are a short stroll away, including Metis, Mexicola, Sarong and Potato Head. No need to take a taxi to reach Seminyak’s many boutiques, lifestyle shops and spas either. What a perfect spot!
